S.T.A.R. Puppy package for dogs under 6 months
For puppies under 6 months. The Berks Dog Training Club S.T.A.R. Puppy Program follows the program designed by the American Kennel Club to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. Upon completion, an AKC certificate is available for purchase through their organization.
S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and a Responsible owner, everything a puppy needs to have a good life. The class supports the puppy’s appropriate development through structured socialization, teaching the puppy the vocabulary of learning, guided activities, and educating you to become a responsible dog owner.
A typical class is a combination of activities, such as learning to SIT, WALK on a leash, DOWN, COME when called, structured play interaction with toys/handler, and some “at rest” time for the puppies while the owners are covering essential topics in the curriculum including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective teaching strategies for the puppy.
This class is for both pure and mixed breed puppies 8 weeks to 6 months. Class size is limited to 8 puppies. S.T.A.R. puppies then continue on to the Basic Skills Class, included in the fee. INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE: $150 which includes 6 weeks of puppy class, 8 weeks of basic skills, plus the balance of the year as a member including weekly member training and more. There is a $2 online administration fee.

Basic Skills Package for dogs 6 months and older
The Basic Skills class is the entry level obedience class where dogs learn how to learn and people learn how to teach. The exercises that are taught at this level have been selected for their usefulness in everyday life: HEEL, for polite walking on leash; SIT, for control in any situation; STAY, for added flexibility; STAND, for examinations; and COME, for those terrifying moments when your unleashed dog is not physically under your control.

Special Needs only offered outdoors - April 2020
This class is designed for dogs who just can't adapt and learn in a regular dog training class (emotional Special Needs). Most often these dogs had inadequate socializing as a young dog but there can be many other reasons for their behavior. Some of these dogs are labeled as reactive, some are shy, some just nervous. This class is designed to put the human/canine bond back on track and gently desensitize them to working around other dogs. Dogs start out not able to see their classmates and gradually see more and more of them as they learn to turn away from distractions and look at their humans for rewards. Almost all dogs leave this class ready for group instruction. These classes are only held out doors for reasons of space and controlling their environment so spring and summer sessions only. For dogs 6 months and older (with exceptions). $150 Special Needs PACKAGE which includes 6 weeks of Special Needs class, 8 weeks of basic skills, plus the balance of the year as a member including weekly member training and more. There is a $2 online administration fee. Due to extra space needed, Special Needs is only available in Spring and summer -
