What's Next?After graduation from basic skills, You are ready to join our member training program. You and your dog have learned many new skills, but now, practice is needed to make them permanent and reliable. While some members are serious trainers with goals of earning titles and showing their dogs, Many just want a pet that they can rely on. Whichever you are, there is a place for you. |
Although we pay our instructors a small amount it is really about volunteering their time.
Our instuctrs are asked to prove themselves by having multiple AKC titles or equivelant on their dogs. We want you to learn from people who can train and teach. In the AKC obedience show ring you can't take food, and you may only give a commad once. So the dogs are really trained. There is no way around it. That is one of the things we love about dog training. There is a relationship of respect and love that you cant build withy our dog any other way. There is a lot of thinking in dog training if you do it right. s you try figure out whatnyour dog is thinking when he does something unexpected
It is why we don't send our dogs off to board and be trained by someone else! There ae lots of other jobs that we need you for. Officers of the club, Board members, Webmaster and more. |
